Inspectis North West Ltd is an engineering inspection company offering engineering inspection services in accordance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER 1998).

Why inspect lifting equipment?
The primary purpose of regular statutory inspection of plant and equipment by a competent person is to detect and report any potential issues that may affect the safety of persons.
Examples of potential issues can include the following: Stress cracking, corrosion, erosion, general wear and tear, vibration loosening of fastening devices, overheating / burning within hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical installations, contamination ingress, leaks, pest / vermin damage, impact damage and subsidence.
These days we live in a society of litigation, don’t leave your business open to any form of bad publicity and potential hardship and above all please ensure the safety of all persons using your lifting equipment.
In 2017 1.3 million people suffered work related illness with 609,000 people having had an injury at work, 137 people unfortunately lost their lives with the highest percentage of this figure coming from the construction industry who are a heavy user of lifting equipment (HSE 2017).
A Competent Person Definition
A competent person as defined by LOLER 1998 states that ‘you should ensure that the person carrying out a thorough examination has such appropriate practical and theoretical knowledge and experience of the lifting equipment to be thoroughly examined as will enable them to detect defects or weaknesses and to assess their importance in relation to the safety and continued use of the lifting equipment.’

Following an inspection visit we will issue a report of thorough examination for every item inspected. This report will advise on any issues which may potentially impact on the safe operation of your lifting equipment.
